WS 1.4197 Stainless Steel

Hardenable alloyed free-cutting stainless steel for high precision parts, with a better corrosion resistance than AISI 420 F (1.4034 +S)

 

Material Properties

This product is a compromise between good machinability (S-Content), high wear resistance (Cr-Ni-Mo content) and possibility for hardening (C-Content).  Chronifer Labor M-Plus resists to corrosion after tempering and a forced polishing of the parts.

 

Availability

Coil:  Ø 0.50 - 3.00mm for Escomatic machines

Bars: Ø 1-1.90mm cold drawn (ground on request)

         Ø 2-10.00mm ground and polished

Standard bar length: 3m surface roughness Ra 0.4 (N5-N6)

 

Standard Tolerances

Diameter: h8 (more accurate with short delivery on request)

Length:  +/- 30 mm

Out of roundness/eccentricity: 1/2 of dia  tol.

 

Heat Treatment

Hardening:  1000-1050 ºC, slow furnace cooling (2-4 hours)

Soft annealing: 750-850 ºC

Max obtainable hardness 48-52 HRC

 

Cutting Rate

40-55m/min (approximate value, depending on the lubrication oil, the cutting tools, the shape of parts)
