Availability	Stock size range: 0.70mm to 50mm. Many intermediate dimensions as well as hexagonal and square sections, special shapes available on request. Cold Drawn to 3mm in 2 mtr bars and supplied in coils for Escomatic machines Bars up to 10mm diameter ground to h8 tolerance Bars 10 to 28mm ground to h9 tolerance Special tolerances available on request
Mechanical properties	Tensile strength: At delivery from: 600 - 740N/mm² After annealing 350-400 N/mm²
Heat treatment	Annealing: approx. 750°C maintained for 15' to 60' in an inert or reducing atmosphere, Stress relieve at approx. 250°C preferably in an inert or reducing atmosphere.
Hardening	Cannot be hardened by heat treatment

Turned parts

The AP1D grade has been developed especially for being machined by lathe.

Its machinability is one of the best of all the corrosion resistant alloys.

The very good machine ability of the AP1D grade may be summerised by:

- Cutting speed up to 150m/ minute. (according to the type of part, cutting tool and lathe).

- Very good quality surface that can be lapped or polished with diamond tool. burr free after drilling.

- Reduction in frequency of tool sharpening

Good formability

The AP1C grade (used in rods for parts that are to be deformed by torsion, bending, riveting, swaging and for welding.

The AP1 grade (sheet, strip, wire, tube) is machine able under the same conditions as carbon steel.
